CMP “Wood Gun” Shoot (Open to the Public)
April 4, 2026 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
LPRGC 100 Yard Range
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a program created by the Government to provide opportunities for civilians to improve their marksmanship skills through regular practice. LPRGC holds monthly CMP matches for all who wish to attend. The matches are designed to be low stress and helpful, so don’t worry if you’re new to CMP- we’re here to help you become a better marksman!
The matches feature 4 courses of fire in the prone, seated, and standing positions. Bring your military-style rifle (from any era!) and at least 80 rounds of ammunition. We also have loaner rifles available! We have AR-15’s, Garand M-1’s, and M-1 Carbines. Use of the loaners is free, however if you shoot our rifles you will need to purchase ammunition for them from us at a nominal cost.
Cost for the match is $10.00 ($8.00 for Club members!). 18 and under shoot for free!
Please contact Mark Harvill if you have any questions at lprgcmark@gmail.com.

Introduction to Trap
Introduction to Trap
April 6, 2026 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Clubhouse & Trap Field
Learn the rules, etiquette, and techniques of trap shooting from LPRGC's NRA certified instructors.
6PM – 8PM on the first Monday of each month from April through October. The September session is on the second Monday due to holiday. $20/person (due at time of registration) covers 12ga or 20ga ammunition, targets, and instruction. Participants will also receive a coupon for one free round of trap at a future LP shoot.
This program is designed for individuals who have little or no experience with shotgun sports. It is intended to be a one-time introductory course for new shooters ages 11 through adult. All participants should be physically capable of shouldering and operating a shotgun without assistance.
Areas to be covered: Feet/body positioning, mounting the shotgun, hold points, focus points, swing/follow through, and other concepts necessary to successfully break clay targets. After a 45 minute classroom session, participants will shoot a round of trap under the supervision of an instructor.
Eye and ear protection are required.
This program is only available to members of LPRGC. Each participant must have a shotgun.
